A Favorite Family Tradition - Donuts With Papa

When I was a little girl, one of my most favorite things to do was go to the local donut shop with my grandpa. I use to tell him that I was going to work at a donut shop when I was older so that I could be his server. I even remember what he would always order...two old fashion cake donuts and a cup of black coffee. I always had a powered sugar covered jelly filled donut and hot chocolate with whipped cream & a maraschino cherry.

I also remember my father taking my sisters and me on "special dates". The four of us would get up early Saturday morning and eat donuts-on-sticks or donut holes and drink orange juice and chocolate milk. The three of us girls always looked forward to those wonderful times with Daddy.

Now that tradition continues with my children and my nieces & nephew. Donut "credit cards" are their favorite things to give Papa.

This morning, the kids and I enjoyed creating more memories with Papa.

Bryleigh wasn't sure what to do with her donut hole...

But once she had a taste...Pop! It was gone!

Hope you enjoyed the photos.

Now go out and create some wonderful memories with your loved ones.

Oh, that is super sweet & makes me sad that my dad is 15 hrs. away. But my husband's brother is the only one allowed to do donut holes with my kids. When he came home from Afganistan that was his thing with the kids and they still do it everytime we see him.

Mmm...donuts! I love to take my kids for donuts tho mine are usually a result of blood draw (if I must suffer, I must not suffer in vain, right? ;) or a special day like the first day of school or the last day of school, etc. I'm glad you all got to make some new memories with your Dad! :)

My husband has a donut thing and loves to take our daughter for donuts on Sunday mornings after church. We get half a dozen to bring home and eat together. I guess I'll have to start sharing with our 16 month old son now too!
I love that Daddy has a tradition with them already! Thanks for reminding me of it! We haven't done it in a while and need to.
